UNIPACE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN LIBREVILLE AND CELEBRATION OF THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GABONESE EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION

The Union des Patronats d'Afrique Centrale (UNIPACE) held an extraordinary general assembly in Libreville on December 13, 2019on the sidelines of the celebration of 60 years of the Confédération Patronale Gabonaise (CPG).

This general assembly was held as an extension of the one held on September 24, 2019 in Brazzaville at the headquarters of Unicongo. It marks the firm commitment of UNIPACE, created since 1997 and composed of the GICAM of Cameroon, the GICA of the Central African Republic, the CNPT of Chad, the CPG of Gabon and Unicongoto mobilize on all issues of common interest.

These records are:

  • l'regional integrationCentral Africa is the least integrated region in the world, with a very low level of internal trade that does not exceed 3% of their external trade, whereas the markets are expected to open up widely with the advent of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA);
  • the business climate which places all CEMAC member countries between 167th and 184th in the Doing Business ranking out of 190 countries in the world;
  • the the great vulnerability of national and regional economies due to their very high dependence on a few raw materials, particularly oil.

The celebration on December 13, 2019 of 60 years of the Confédération Patronale Gabonaisewas marked by the organization of meetings of the CPG on the theme " the Gabonese company and regional integration ".

The various panels of these meetings have highlighted the crucial nature of competitiveness through the implementation of innovations, the use of ICT and investment in the training of human capital, for the conquest of foreign markets, especially regional and continental, to remedy the narrowness of the domestic market, in the perspective of the establishment of the LCAf.
