The private sector is the primary driver of growth and job creation in a country. It constitutes the tax base that allows the State to play its role of redistribution and regulation. It also provides basic social services and can play an important role in providing access to water, energy, transport and means of communication. Finally, it is at the center of the environmental, social and governance concerns of a state.

Unicongo's members all meet these criteria. They represent more than 90% of the country's formal private sector, and when they join, they commit themselves to respecting an ethical charter that advocates free competition and respect for the laws in force.

Divided into 15 federationsrepresenting the country's main economic sectors, the Union's members share the same desire to work towards a calm and peaceful business climate, but also to promote entrepreneurship and encourage investment.
