PRIVATE SECTOR ACTORS TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO THE ECONOMIC CRISIS

The 25 September 2018, was held a consultation meeting of economic actors private sector at the initiative of the Union Patronale et Interprofessionnel du Congo (Unicongo) and the Chamber of Commerce of Pointe-Noire.

This meeting took place simultaneously in Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville by videoconference and was able to bring together professional organizations (associations and unions) as well as economic operators. Aware of the need to regroup, to combine efforts and to propose solutions to this situation, many issues were discussed during this meeting.

In addition to thestate of play of the general economic situation of the countryissues related to the specific problems of the private sector were the subject of sustained attention from the participants. In particular the administrative questions relating to the multiplicity and superposition of controls, the instability of the legal and institutional frameworkthe public debtpublic debt, the illegal parafiscalityetc.

The revival of the economic activity of the companies was also evoked during the meeting. The last point of this consultation concerned the suggestions or proposals of actions to be put in place jointly to get out of the crisis. These proposals will be sent to the government, said Mr. Christian Barros at the end of the consultation. Other meetings will be organized to follow closely the evolution of the situation. Eventually, the leaders of the professional associations and unions will meet with the highest authorities of the country to find solutions to end the crisis together.
