With an area of 342,000 square kilometers, the Congo is located in Central Africa, with access to the Atlantic Ocean for 170 kilometers.

The Congo shares borders with the Central African Republic to the north, Cameroon to the northwest, Gabon to the west, Cabinda (Angola) to the extreme southwest, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the east and south.

The main distances are :

• 1,200 kilometers: from the North (Betou) to the South (Pointe-Noire);
• 425 kilometers: in the West-East direction at the equator.

Its political capital is Brazzaville and its economic capital is Pointe-Noire.
