World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024

UNICONGO and TotalEnergies join forces

World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDOSH), commemorated every year on April 26, is an initiative launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to highlight the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases on a global scale. Its primary aim is to raise awareness of the crucial importance of occupational safety and health, highlighting how the promotion of a values-oriented culture can help reduce workplace deaths and injuries.

For over a decade, UNICONGO has been committed to organizing this day in partnership with Total Energies Congo. The event took place at the Espace du Trentenaire in the KM4 district of Pointe-Noire, on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year, the ILO's overall theme is "Exploring the impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health". In line with this global orientation, TotalEnergies Congo has chosen "Major Accidents and Feedback" as the theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024 , thus involving all stakeholders.

For the 13thᵉ year running, 50 companies manned dedicated stands. Throughout the day, specialists in quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) presented and promoted health and safety policies, exhibiting relevant materials and equipment. Competitions and awareness-raising activities were also offered to visitors.

By the end of the day, over 3,500 visitors, mainly workers, specialists and enthusiastic students, had taken part in the event. This year's World Day for Safety and Health at Work was sponsored by VIVAL, MUCODEC, SN PLASCO and the Pointe-Noire Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Visitors had the opportunity to browse the stands and talk to the organizers about fun and educational activities.
