WORLD DAY FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK (JMSST), 12TH EDITION

On April 28, at the Espace du Trentenaire in Pointe-Noire, the Union Patronale et Interprofessionnelle du Congo (Unicongo) celebrated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (JMSST), in partnership with TotalEnergies and its member companies as usual.

This event, instituted by the International Labour Organization (ILO), aims to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases worldwide. This was an opportunity for Unicongo to call on its member companies to take ownership of the local theme of the 2023 edition: "Technological risks: all concerned, all actors! The main objective was to make employers, workers and the public aware of the importance of safety and health in the workplace, and to promote a culture of prevention of accidents and occupational diseases.

Unicongo President Michel Djombo stressed the importance of understanding the key concerns related to the handling of machinery and equipment to prevent occupational safety and health risks. He also stated that companies must ensure that their employees strictly adhere to safety measures and the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the health and well-being of their employees. Unicongo plays a unifying role by bringing together member companies and encourages all other companies to join its ranks.

Approximately 50 companies expressed their support for the day, highlighting the importance of safety and health in the workplace.
